Cell phones are a big part of kids' lives these days. They like to text each other and use applications such as Facebook. there isn't a way to prevent students from bringing cell phones to school unless you check every student. There are two choices, allow cell phones in school, or, ban cell phones in school. Students should be allowed to have cell phones in school.
A cell phone can provide academic help. For example, in the article, "Pros and Cons of Using Cell Phones in School, " it says, "Students have access to applications such as a calculator, a camera, the internet, etc. A student can use the camera if he/she doesn't have enough time writing down notes. A student can use calendar to keep track of upcoming tests. Teachers can have access to educational websites. A student would have more academic help if cell phones weren't banned. More academic help means better grades for students. Nothing bad about this, it's positive.
A cell phone can be used for security. For example, in the article, "Cell Phone Bans In School, " it says, "Students can spread necessary messages to others and to teachers and parents. Students have immediate access to parents in an emergency." Students can communicate with other students or parents easily with their cell phone. If a student sees a threat or something, he/she can call a parent or 911. Once again, nothing bad about this, it's positive.
On the other hand, students can get distracted by games, or using the internet to cheat tests. However, this can be solved easily by calling the student's parent , and if it was a test, fail it. Additionally, teachers and students can text each other and get to know each other better. When students need to do field work research, they can easily take pictures with the camera on their phone. Parents and teachers can stay in contact with each other so that they both can discuss about the student.
In conclusion, students should be allowed to have cell phones in school. Cell phones provide academic help. Cell phones help for security too. Teachers and students get to know each other better. Parents and teachers can discuss about the student.
